Editor,
On Tuesday, a group of elementary school children was on campus. I remember coming to campus for a field trip when I was in elementary school. I think these trips are a great opportunity for kids to get a glimpse of college life. However, I was troubled by the fact that these kids, their teachers and chaperones were using the UNM shuttles. I don't recall hearing any communication regarding visitors using the UNM shuttles, which I think is owed to students, since we are the ones paying almost $100 for the privilege of parking in Zia and South lots and being shuttled onto campus. Several of us had to wait through a couple of shuttles before boarding an available one, consequently throwing off some of our tight schedules.
There are enough issues that exist with riding the shuttle already - we don't need more layered on. With how much we pay for parking, the least that can be done is to notify us of special events that may cause out-of-the-ordinary delays.
