Editor,
As a student and registered voter, I hope that those of us who decided to cast our ballots last Tuesday don't continue to settle for mediocrity in the House of Representatives and the Senate.
I feel that it is our moral duty as educated citizens of the U.S. not to stand by and idly watch our country be run into the ground with debt, war and death. The Democrats have made some big promises, and I hope that they deliver.
I didn't believe Bush when he lied to me as a senior in high school, but more appalling than that is how willfully the Democrats gave him the power for an illegal war. Firing Donald Rumsfeld isn't enough. I call for immediate withdrawal from Iraq - if you support our troops, bring them home now. Don't continue to expose them to harm for a cheaper price at the pump.
Next, Bush should be impeached. We need to hold him accountable for all the lies and deceit. If you really want to fight terrorism and be a patriot, educate yourself and others. Ride your bike, walk, skateboard or take the bus, and buy locally or fair trade.
Please don't dismiss this as a vent for attention - we are the next generation of power, and the only responsible way to govern is to think of ourselves as global citizens. That is the true form of moral values, not false ideologies or fear and terror.
