Editor,
Tuesday was Election Day. I considered voting by absentee ballot or driving down to my district so I could vote, but in my view, there is no candidate good enough to choose. I have been following the Wilson and Madrid race going on in this district, and while it would not be affected by my vote, if the choice were given to me, I do not think I would want either of them to represent me.
Most candidates running for any political office are at least twice my age. They do not share the same views as me, and as evidenced by the lack of response from their campaign offices to the Daily Lobo, they do not care to know what mine are. The only parties which seem flexible and accommodating to the views of my generation are third parties. I do not want to slander their campaigns, but if I voted for them, I would be throwing my vote away.
The blame is not to be placed all on the candidates. Voter turnout greatly skews the beliefs
candidates promote in order to gain votes, and given my generation, there is a reason they do not care about our views. My generation is great at protesting, writing witty or slanderous phrases on sidewalks with chalk and bad-mouthing particular politicians; however, unless you vote, all of this counts for nothing. Whoever wins this election - whether they meet your cheers or jeers - don't blame me, because I voted for Kodos.
