Editor,
I have just mailed a $20 check for a parking ticket due to unfair circumstances.
On Oct. 19, I approached the Cornell Parking Structure to deposit my car so I could attend a geography lab. I was turned away, the attendant saying all the spaces had been rented out to a special event. As a result, I parked on a side street in the first spot I came to. I needed to get to class on time - I'm
never late.
I was angry. For the last year, I've been a returning senior student - I'm 71 years old - and have used the structure two or three times a week, unless classes were canceled. Why wasn't a notice handed out upon paying and leaving the structure earlier that week? This is inexcusable.
Please change the policy - let people know what is going on so they can be prepared for unusual circumstances and make other arrangements.
