Editor,
I am writing in response to an article about Dionne Marsh, who plays for the Lobo women's basketball team, that appeared in Monday's Daily Lobo. In it, Marsh is not only praised as a member of the team, but also portrayed as though she were the only member.
Running a separate article on one player does not convey the hard work of the rest of the team. Texas was a hard team to beat, and yet nothing was mentioned of Brandi Kimble's numerous steals in the second half, Julie Briody's countless amazing rebounds or even Katie Montgomery's incredible handling of the ball against the Texas defense.
When the game plan on every play is to get the ball inside to Marsh, it is not entirely due to her talent that she scored 20 points in the game. And, if I remember correctly, the final score was 63-60, which leaves me to wonder where the other 43 points came from.
I guess the old adage that "there is no 'I' in team" doesn't apply to Marsh and the Lobos.
