Editor,
I am a UNM employee who takes two shuttles a day - the South and the Q - to get to work. I hear so much complaining about the service, but I have been taking these shuttles for months and have never had any problem making it to work on time. I get tired of hearing some students on the shuttles whining about how hard they have it.
On Friday, I had to wait for four shuttles because there were so many students, but I still got to work on time because UNM parking and transportation kept the buses coming until all of the students were accommodated.
I heard one woman on her cell phone complaining that she felt like cattle. I don't feel like cattle when I ride the shuttle. I feel like a human being on a bus. I wonder if UNM students are aware that all over the world, even in the U.S., humans take buses, trains and taxis, which all can sometimes
be crowded.
I wonder if the only thing that would make UNM students happy would be drive-in classes, where they would never have to get out of their cars. I also wonder why students pay to park and ride when there are plenty of apartments within walking or biking distance of UNM. Lastly, I wonder whether they are aware that fossil fuels are running low, so they better get used to sharing.
