Editor,
Being a UNM student for a semester, I have been involved with the University by living on campus and participating in the various activities that UNM has to offer. The activities and school involvement that NMPIRG offers have far surpassed any of the other options on campus, including living on campus.
The student organization will be working this semester to get renewable energy on campus, making it more environmentally savvy. This has been a concern of mine for some time, and it is good to see a student organization take on the challenge. When I moved onto campus last fall, I assumed that the dorms relied on renewable energy entirely. I was disappointed when I did not see solar panels on the roofs of any of the buildings.
I think it is time to start being a model for the rest of community, and NMPIRG will help not only the University but Albuquerque become more environmentally aware.
