Editor,
I am a master's student living in on-campus housing - the SRCs, to be specific. My apartment is on the ground floor of a building that houses more than 30 people. For all those folks, we have a total of three not-very-large garbage cans. These are placed right outside my front door.
The issue is that they are constantly overflowing, with trash blowing up against my door, because they are only emptied a couple times a week. It gets especially bad over weekends, as the garbage isn't usually emptied until Tuesday.
Our RA has been told that nothing will be done to improve the situation. I am quite disappointed with the lack of response housing is showing over this matter. It saves itself a few dollars by not investing in our concerns, while we are stuck with the filth - and the accompanying roaches and hantavirus-infested mice that love having garbage strewn all over the ground.
