Editor,
The article in Monday's Daily Lobo on the possible closing of the North Golf Course does not mention one big use by the public. I know - I have lived right next to the course for six years. It is dogs.
People bring their dogs from all over town and feel at liberty to let them run without leashes. Many of these dogs rush those of us walking the trail around the course and even outside the course at the northeast entrance. Repeated calls to Animal Control over the years have had no effect.
The course is not an official dog park. The city's lack of effort in creating such supervised settings elsewhere has created this nightmare for us. So, forgive me - even though I'm a nature lover - for hoping that closing the course might finally solve this problem.
