Human beings should use their natural resources

Editor,

Jump on board the environmental locomotive if you will not accept any sort of dissenting arguments to global warming. Movie stars, sports figures, politicians and thousands alike are joining the new sacrificial faith. They tell us that we can avoid Armageddon if we follow them blindly.

Everyone should have the right to do what they want for their beliefs. The issue is whether a few should force others to make sacrifices for their so-called vision. Former Vice President Al Gore wants tough environmental laws that will cripple the energy industry and lead to higher prices. He claims we need to force ethanol, solar and wind energy consumption, regardless of the free market.

Human beings should be considered as much a part of the natural world as anything else. Politicians should not get to draw the line as to what is environmentally acceptable and what isn't.

Too many have blindly accepted the premise that civilized man, by exploiting nature to fulfill his needs, is not the creator but the destroyer of human values. This subjective premise is held with blind religious fervor. Holding the premise dogmatically, they have no eyes or ears for evidence against it. Their view of man as inherently destructive automatically leads them to distrust all that man creates. That is why many people unquestioningly report that factories, power plants and vehicles are causing a catastrophic global warming.
