Secular groups protest prayer by giving blood

Editor,

On Tuesday, the UNM Humanist Society and the Atheists and Freethinkers of New Mexico will hold a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the SUB Plaza in observance of Gift of Life Day. Gift of Life Day is the secular community's response to the National Day of Prayer on May 3.

Atheists, humanists and other secular organizations across the country will hold blood drives

between now and May 3 as part of a nationwide humanitarian protest against the Day of Prayer. We urge other like-minded people to participate and show the world that actions speak louder than prayers.

The UNM Humanist Society and the Atheists and Freethinkers of New Mexico are proud to be working with United Blood Services in this humanitarian effort.
