Editor,
While attending a lab last week, I realized where this University's priorities are focused. The lab instructor said that each student was to reuse a single pair of latex gloves for dissections. When asked why the class was instructed to reuse our gloves, the instructor said that the department cannot afford to allow students to constantly change dirty gloves.
When an alleged institution of higher learning can afford to pay a coach $975,000 a year and cannot afford a box of latex gloves, people should be concerned. How can UNM justify its mismanagement of funds in order to boost its athletic reputation while allowing its academics to suffer? I would like to hear how the Board of Regents would address this injustice to the student body of UNM.
