Editor,
The presidential debates have been addressing many issues that have been ignored, brushed over or considered unimportant by the mass media and general public. A great change is about to occur, not only within our nation, but around the world. This requires a good understanding of all current situations. However, there is one major issue being consistently ignored: The population growth of the United States and the world is beyond sustainable levels and is getting exponentially worse every day.
It is time for the prospective leaders of the "greatest nation in the world" to recognize the importance of their roles in establishing sustainable practices, particularly when it comes to reproduction. With the proper funding and support from the government, comprehensive sexual education could be established across the nation, along with aid to those affected by the collapsing ecosystems strained by overpopulation. It is important that the people who are affected by decisions being made thousands of miles away make it clear that they care about ensuring a future for their families. I urge Albuquerque residents to contact all presidential candidates and ask them if they will support comprehensive sexual education and funding for international family planning.
