Editor,
On a recent evening I went for a run around Johnson Field. After $720,000 was spent on buying and installing new lights, I expect them to be turned on. It was dark and raining fairly hard, but the lights were not turned on.
I finished my laps anyway and began the return trip home. On my left, rainwater runoff was flowing in the gutters as high as the curb. On my right, the sprinklers on campus were turned on. I continued down Central Avenue and saw more UNM sprinklers spraying the already soaked grass. At this point, I began to wonder how many more areas on campus were being watered at that moment. Once again, I am appalled by the inefficiency of this institution.
