Society should value love over violence between men

Editor,

I would not give up my strong romantic attraction for certain men for all the money and fame in the world.

The main purpose of sex is not to make more babies, especially with the soaring world population of 6.6 billion people.

The main purpose of sex is a mutually affectionate, pleasurable connection between persons - female and female, female and male, male and male.

Why is violence between men far more acceptable than passionate pleasure between men? Why do many parents prefer their son murder a man in war than for their son to be in love and make love with a man?

The gravestone of one Vietnam veteran reads: "When I was in the military, they gave me a medal for killing two men and a discharge for loving one."

If it were not for the terrible taboo from religion, family, friends and society against sex between men, most if not all men would be strongly sexually attracted to at least one male during their lifetime and would enjoy sex and romance with him. Sex between men would become at least as popular as baseball, basketball, soccer or wrestling.

Many guys who yell "faggot" at someone who has sex with other guys also want to do it, but they do not have the balls to say it. Some men are terrified of their own deep, hidden desires for sex with men. Some guys are scared that if they tried it once with a guy, they would enjoy it so much they would want to keep on having sex with guys.

I would be ashamed to be a boxer or football player injuring men. I would be ashamed to be a soldier killing men and women in war. Why cheer and honor men injuring and killing men? Why curse men making love and being in love with men?
