The UNM women's soccer team lost for the first time in a month Sunday, falling 1-0 to TCU.

The Lobos outplayed the Horned Frogs at the UNM Soccer Complex for most of the game, but they couldn't execute their scoring opportunities.

UNM had 16 shots and five on goal while TCU had just 13 shots and two on goal.

"We mainly just couldn't find the back of the net," senior midfielder Terryn Granados said. "We did everything right. We felt like we had a good day and beat them for 90 minutes. We just couldn't find the back of the net."

The loss was the Lobos' first Mountain West Conference and home loss of the season.

The Lobos fell to 7-3-2 overall and 1-1 in the MWC. The Horned Frogs are 7-7-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the MWC.

The lone goal came in the 33rd minute of the first half when TCU's Michelle Nguyen had a corner kick, and midfielder Angie Nickens found the net after the ball bounced around a few times.

Junior forward Hannah Hand led UNM with four shots and one on goal. Junior goalie Shannon Adragna allowed the lone goal and had one save in the second half.

The Lobos hadn't trailed since they played Arizona on Sept. 14.

"We're a young team," head coach Kit Vela said. "It's hard to know how to come back. We didn't lose because of a lack of toughness or playing well. I thought we played pretty well, but there's just a lesson to be learned."

Vela said the young team wasn't as confident as it has been in previous games.

"We couldn't get the final product that we wanted," Vela said. "They were in a panic in the second half, and there was no reason to panic for 45 minutes. I think our youth just showed a bit."

The Horned Frogs had solid defensive. They frustrated the Lobos on the outside and clogged the middle of the field,

preventing UNM from breaking away.

"We struggled trying to find our wing players and being able to pass their way," senior midfielder Martina Brtan said. "We will move forward from this, though."
