Editor,
I begin by saying the Catholic Church is fading away. We must all admit there is a problem with the way it's headed.
First of all, the Catholic Church is one of the largest churches. According to common belief, it is opposed to three things: science, birth control and gay marriage. Well, it shouldn't be against any of them.
Religion answers the "why" questions that science leaves blank, while the latter answers the "how" questions. Evolution does not dissect the church's teachings.
The Catholic Church has a ban on birth control but encourages the rhythm method. Isn't the rhythm method a form of birth control? Keep the sperm from being able to fertilize an egg - that's what the rhythm method does, but that is also the purpose of a condom or the pill. On top of this, the Bible only says that birth control is a sin if it is used for selfish purposes. But if it is used because a couple are not ready for children but choose to have sex to strengthen their marriage, then why is birth control wrong? It's not.
Gays have not been barred from the Catholic Church, only pushed away. Pope Benedict XVI, in his years as Cardinal Ratzinger, published a letter addressing gays in the church in 1986. He simply said they must be chaste and celibate.

This is a logical sacrifice - a male and a female body are supposed to be together by physical construct. But marriage is for emotional purposes, not only sexual. And emotional attachment to the same sex is allowed in the church. The word needs to get out that the church is not against these things. If people do not learn this, the Catholic Church will soon become an artifact of evolution.
