Editor,
As we all know, illegal immigration is a top issue in today's world. While most of the talk is about what to do with illegal immigrants already in the country, almost nothing is done about legal immigration. The process can easily take over a year to complete because there are so many applicants.
The main reason for this is because
there are not enough immigration facilities to meet the demand of potential U.S. citizens. If more people were hired to conduct the necessary background checks and interviews, there would be less foreigners coming to the U.S. illegally.
Making the process of immigration more efficient will also improve national security, provide jobs for citizens and produce more legal taxpayers, instead of illegal immigrants who are not able to fully enjoy an American life. Lastly, being able to accept more immigrants will lessen the growing number of
illegal immigrants entering the country each year.

Rather than wasting time arguing about what rights illegal immigrants have, Congress should be doing everything possible to give each deserving person a chance to live in this great country. Therefore, I ask anyone who is interested to send a letter to our state representatives telling them to revise the current immigration system.
