Because life begins in the womb, abortion is murder

Editor,

I've read two letters on the topic of abortion: one supporting abortion and the other opposing it. I've never written about the topic but want to do so today. I am an evangelical Christian, but I don't vote Republican. I would like to bring up several points. But first, back in the early '70s, just when abortion became legalized, I had two abortions. I regret this now and view it as murder.

I was told that my child was only a blob of tissue. That was not true. I didn't want the abortions at the time but was in crisis, as the guys rejected me and the child and abortion was being hyped as the solution.

I realize now that it is wrong to abort a child. Even Bill Maher, the comedian who I enjoy watching, said on his show once that there is no doubt abortion is murder. I think it is odd that we view women who kill their children after birth, usually young, as somehow depraved when having an abortion is viewed as OK.

It does say in the Bible that God knew us before we were in the womb, which means our time to arrive on Earth was not a mistake and that we were somehow going to be, and God knew that. To stop that life is a tragedy.

For instance, what if the children aborted had a purpose to fulfill, people they would meet, children they would bear, a spouse they were destined to marry and talents to bring to this life? What right does anyone have to murder a child? What if someone aborted you? Where would you be? Just think about it.
