Majority reaps the benefits of UNM's diversity office

Editor,

There must be a typo in the article, "University unveils diversity plan," published in the Daily Lobo on Thursday.

The article quotes the U.S. Census and states, "Hispanics make up the largest ethnic group in New Mexico - 45 percent of the population."

If Hispanics are the majority, according to the U.S. Census, then it is a transgression for the diversity office to expend any energy helping this majority group.

What is the diversity office doing for the minorities? It should be more concerned with the 1 percent of American Indians rather than the 30 percent of Hispanics graduating. Yet, it is obviously not.

Rita Martinez-Purson is terrified of Anglo-Americans. If you review her letters to the Daily Lobo, her actions obviously show she not only hates America and its symbols but also the U.S. Constitution.

I cannot imagine this anti-American woman being in charge of picking up cigarette butts in the quad, never mind the diablerie of putting her in charge of the diversity office.

Does this University administration think real minorities deserve less of an opportunity, and the rest of us are so ignorant that we cannot see this contravention?

I know the majority rules, but when this happens under the guise of diversity, there is a crime being committed against society as a whole.
