Editor,
Don Schrader, in a letter published in the Daily Lobo on Monday, said a vote for any potential candidate is a vote for murder.
I mostly agree with him. I would completely agree with him were it not for Rep. Ron Paul.
Paul is the only candidate who not only opposes the war but also opposes the building and keeping of an American empire.
Were he to be elected, Paul would not only withdraw all our troops from Iraq and Afghanistan, but he would also close all foreign military bases.
Paul is the only candidate currently running who not only voted against the Iraq War but also voted against the Patriot Act. He is for defending personal liberties, not government liberty. He believes it is the sole duty of the American government to ensure that all of its citizens live peaceful, free and private lives.

Unlike the current administration, he does not believe we exist to provide the government freedom to do as it pleases. I would ask Schrader to take a look at Paul's policies.
Like all candidates, he is not perfect. However, in today's world, I feel there is no greater issue at hand than the war in Iraq. Topics such as immigration and the economy pale in comparison to the deaths of countless innocent Iraqis and American soldiers.
With that in mind, I feel the only choice for president is Paul. I know many people want to vote for someone they think will win. They want to feel their vote counts.
I am a firm believer that you must vote your conscience. This is not a popularity contest. We have to stop treating it like one. Have you Googled Paul yet?
