Class disruptions unfair to students who want to learn

Editor,

Normally, I prefer not to make personal remarks about people's behavior. In general, poor behavior earns people what you might expect.

However, I have noticed a disturbing rash of disrespectful conduct among UNM students that, frankly, isn't becoming of young adults seeking to get higher degrees.

Popping gum in class, talking over the professor, getting up and leaving with no pertinent excuse, listening to iPods in class and being disrespectful to others is conduct I would expect from freshmen, not junior and senior college classes.

If you are that disinterested in the people around you or the class you are taking, better that you do not show up to class altogether than to distract people who have an expectation of a constructive work environment.
