Former UNM women's basketball standout Dionne Marsh will get the chance to take her basketball career to the highest level.
Marsh was invited to attend the Sacramento Monarchs' training camp, where she will have a shot to land a roster spot.
Marsh said she was let down when she wasn't selected in Wednesday's WNBA draft but will take advantage of her opportunity with Sacramento.
"After Wednesday, I was a little bit bummed because I didn't get drafted," she said. "But the very next day, they invited me to come to their training camp, so I'm excited."
Training camp for the Monarchs begins April 20. Marsh and 18 others will vie for the final 11 roster spots at Sacramento.
Marsh said she is going into the training camp with high expectations, hoping to sign a free agent contract.

"I'm hoping I can stay the whole time," she said. "I want to make the team. That's really the point for me right now."
If Marsh doesn't land with the Monarchs, she plans to continue playing basketball, possibly playing overseas in January.
While at UNM, Marsh left behind one of the most impressive legacies for a Lobo athlete.
She is the school's all-time leading scorer, with 1,913 points. Marsh was named Mountain West Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player three times in her career and earned all-conference honors each of her four seasons.
Marsh averaged 14.8 points and 5.7 rebounds per game and led the Lobos to three MWC Tournament championships and four straight NCAA Tournament appearances.
No other player won tournament MVP more than once in the history of the MWC.
Marsh said she can happily look back on her collegiate career now that it's over.
"Having three rings is great," she said. "Being MVP of the tournament was something I never thought about happening."
