Editor,
Brian Fejer's letter in Tuesday's Daily Lobo is on target, as usual.
The need for American reform to 21st-century thinking is like flaming writing on the wall.
A large capitalist economy based principally on credit and consumption is not sustainable in today's world. Unfortunately, even with new a president, we may need to take a fall on our face before the scope of reforms can take place.
It isn't going to be pretty. Some may view it as the leveling process that must occur with economic globalization. I think only of my kids and grandkids and say, "We did not have to let it happen that way."
Let's hope American grit and the spirit of commonality can prevail in a diverse culture - educationally, racially, ethnically and politically - that has depended mainly on economic prosperity to survive as a united, progressive society. Continue to keep the message in view.
