Editor,
I would like to give a brief response to James Post's letter in Monday's Daily Lobo about how polygamy should be legal to any religious group.
I say a loud, resounding no to polygamy.
The human being is comprised of three parts: body, soul and spirit. When two people have sexual intercourse, they are emotionally and spiritually bound to each other for the rest of their lives.
In the case of polygamy, you obviously become bound to multiple people. I personally do not want to be carrying around the spiritual and emotional baggage of several women.
Polygamy is analogous to having many different dogs fighting over the same bone. Now that would be a gruesome sight.

Metaphorically speaking, why not give each dog its own bone? I personally believe polygamy is completely immoral, because I believe God's natural design for man is to have only one soul mate.
There were no Adam and Eves, only one Eve and one Adam. Also, don't the odds of getting a sexually transmitted infection skyrocket if someone has multiple sex partners? What if some of those multiple spouses have had sex with previous boyfriends or girlfriends?
Let's suppose that a man has five wives, and that each of those wives gives birth to two children. How is he going to give financial support to 10 children and his five wives?
That's an incredible financial burden to place on one man's shoulders.
What kind of strange religion promotes such a bizarre family structure?
