Editor,
I am writing in response to Richard Letnes' rant about our government and reckless drivers.
Letnes, your letter has no proof or examples that support your claims. You say the U.S. government does not have the right to jam its values on anyone, and I agree.
What values do you think they are jamming on us? Your letter would be more effective if you were writing in response to something the federal government did recently that you disagree with or feel is unconstitutional.
Or maybe you were writing in response to a letter that was in the Daily Lobo in the past that I didn't read, in which case you should say so.
You go on to say that the Constitution provides a way to remove politicians in power. I'm assuming you are getting at impeachment.

Government officials are only subject to impeachment if they have committed treason, bribery or other high crimes or misdemeanors. If you feel an official should be brought up for impeachment, then you should list names and reasons.
And just to be clear, impeachment is not involuntarily removing an official. It is a similar process as indictment in criminal law. There is an entire investigation process.
All I'm trying to say is you can't go off on a rant and make claims without backing them up or providing context for your argument. It isn't effective and sounds a little bit ridiculous.
Next time, think through what you are trying to say and prepare a well-constructed argument.
