Bond set for man accused of attack

SANTA FE (AP) - Bond has been set at $250,000 for a Japanese man accused of attacking an Englishman speaking on "thought transference" during an international conference in Santa Fe. State District Judge Michael Vigil on Friday set the bond for 33-year-old Kazuki Hirano of Yokohama, who has been held in the Santa Fe County jail.

Bush hails recovery of tornado-hit town

CRAWFORD, Texas (AP) - President Bush is hailing the remarkable recovery of one southern Kansas town a year after a monster tornado destroyed almost everything in sight. Bush plans to address Greensburg's graduating class of 18 boys and girls and hand out their diplomas on Sunday.

12 dead, dozens missing after boat sinks

SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) - Authorities say a boat with 110 people aboard has sunk in the Brazilian Amazon. At least 12 people are dead, and dozens are missing. Fire Lt. Col. Raimundo Rodrigues da Silva said the boat was carrying passengers returning from a party near the jungle city of Manaus.
