Editor,
I live in the Student Residence Center, and I like to take a nap in the little time I have between studying and having a little fun before finals.
I must say I slept through most of the gun incident and its aftermath. I was in that Greek mythology class and wondered why a student would be called out by the police standing just barely out of sight.
Such matters didn't concern me. I went home and napped away.
I did not expect to wake with new roommates in the last two weeks of class and this garbage for an article about a formerly unknown individual.
The stupidity of Kevin Boyar to bring firearms onto University property is uncontested but really not a surprise. The rural state of New Mexico has many students with guns.

I only hope most of them are not stupid enough to bring them here, show them to roommates and make inappropriate comments about Virginia Tech.
His actions were gravely inappropriate and may cause mental harm to fellow students. Everyone in the SRC must be aware that we forfeit some rights by living on University property.
However, put aside the obvious recent illicit acts of Boyar for one moment. Who is Boyar really? Where did the Daily Lobo find these former roommates and friends of girlfriends?
It seems as if every time a student is publicized by this paper, 20 students pop up with various inane perceptions of the individual.
Boyar has been charged with four counts of a crime, and the students here feel as if we should assassinate his character and reveal the intimate details of his life to a public forum.
Do the Daily Lobo readers need to know about his hardly recent high school girlfriends, close relationship with his mother, conversations with his RA and video game preferences?
I would suggest that the relevant information would include prior criminal convictions, evidence of any planned shootings or the object of his consternation causing him to act in this manner.
Lack of information is not an excuse for bringing in irrelevant people and their blather for the purpose of column-filler space. Unlike most news I read or watch, this actually came close to my life, and I want real reporting.
