Wheelchair basketball team could be an asset to UNM

Editor,

UNM cannot afford to have the Albuquerque Kings wheelchair basketball team forced off the main campus in Albuquerque.

Rigid mind-sets plague potential and possibility at UNM. We all must work together to build an inclusive campus that will attract all students to attend UNM and build a diverse learning community.

Positive image building is necessarily a creative, all-inclusive process. UNM needs the Albuquerque Kings as a component in the new approach to access and the

consensus building that must take place to establish realistic goals that will place the University in its rightful position at the leading edge of diversity in 21st century postsecondary education.

Let's find the sponsors - public and private - and build the community that will support the Albuquerque Kings and a new approach to access and diversity at the

University.

The first step could be an exhibition game between the Lobos and the Albuquerque Kings, all proceeds to support the Kings - to be played at The Pit, of course.
