Obama unqualified for office; McCain lesser of two evils

Editor,

I will admit my Aug. 18 anti-Obama letter to the Daily Lobo was superficially worded, and I've reconsidered my political stance a few times since reading the aggressive responses I've received from it.

During the initial stages of this presidential race, Obama appealed to me much more than John McCain because his motto is "Change we can believe in." I thought McCain was absolutely insane for claiming our troops should remain in Iraq, because our American federal government has spent more than $700 billion in Iraq and has sacrificed more than 4,000 lives since 2003, excluding innocent Iraqi civilians. I think this is the source of our current economic crisis.

However, other letters to the Daily Lobo from people such as Howell and Martinez have presented substantial proof that Obama is unqualified to occupy the Oval Office as our next commander in chief. I have yet to read one single anti-McCain letter on this publication. The only anti-McCain argument I've seen is a bumper sticker in Colorado that read "McCain: Bush's 3rd Term - Obama '08."

I seriously believe the American people would be making a tragic mistake in electing Obama as our next president, because the evidence against Obama is much stronger and greater than that against McCain. McCain is the lesser of two political evils. This will be my first time participating in a presidential election, and my vote is going to McCain.
