UNMPD holding forum for public to discuss concerns over recent groping incidents on campus

UNMPD is holding a forum on Friday in response to two recent groping incidents on campus.
Information regarding the attacks and the forum was sent to all UNM email addresses today. The forum is open to the public and will be held in the SUB atrium from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
According to the email, UNMPD is releasing two composite sketches of the alleged suspects later today on a webpage dedicated to the incidents. The page can be found at campussafety.unm.edu. The email does not specify when these will be released today.
The email also states, “If you have any information about the attacks, please contact UNMPD at (505) 277-2241 or the UNMPD tip line at policetips@unm.edu.”

Crime prevention techniques (listed in the email):
• Be aware of your surroundings at all times. For example, do not wear earphones when walking or engage in other behaviors that may distract you from your environment.
• Walk with a trusted friend whenever possible.
• Attempt to walk in well-lit, high-traffic areas.
• Keep dorm, apartment and car doors locked.
• Immediately report suspicious behavior to police. Police would rather respond to a tip that turn out to be easily explained, than be notified after a crime has occurred.
