Men’s soccer
New Mexico, holding the top seed in the Conference USA Men’s Soccer Championship tournament, will play No. 5 Tulsa in Friday’s semifinals at Transamerica Field in Charlotte, N.C. Game time is 3 p.m. MST.
The Golden Hurricanes advanced in the tournament after Wednesday’s 3-1 win over No. 4 South Carolina. The Lobos did not play in the first round, receiving a first-round bye with its C-USA regular-season title.
Each lower-seeded team advanced to the semifinals. No. 7 Kentucky stunned No. 2 Old Dominion 1-0 in overtime, while No. 6 Charlotte dropped No. 3 UAB 2-1. The Wildcats and 49ers play the other semifinal game.
The C-USA title game takes place Sunday.
Women’s basketball
Despite a game-high 17 points from guard Antiesha Brown, UNM dropped its first game of the season with a 64-56 loss at Texas Tech on Wednesday.
The Lobos missed their first 10 field goals and trailed 27-16 at halftime, registering their lowest first-half scoring output in a nonconference game since 2010.
UNM’s Ebony Walker joined Brown in double-digit scoring with 12 points. A trio of Red Raider guards hit double figures: Amber Battle with 17 points, Minta Spears with 16 and Diamond Lockhart with 13.
The Lobos have not won in Lubbock, Texas, in eight trips.
Cross country
UNM’s pursuit to the NCAA Championships continue today when the men and women’s teams run at the Mountain Region Championships in Ogden, Utah.
The Lobos enter the regional race coming off a sixth straight Mountain West Conference title win for the women and a fifth straight victory for the men.
The women will run a 6 kilometer course, while the men race a 10K.
UNM Hall of Honor
Seven former Lobo athletes will be inducted into UNM’s Hall of Honor during a ceremony tonight at the Crowne Plaza Albuquerque.

Former football player Frank Sedillo will receive the Distinguished Service Award during the event hosted by the UNM Alumni Letterman’s Association. The other honorees are George Brooks for skiing, Tim Cass for tennis and administration work, Caroline Keggi for golf, Luc Longley for basketball, Terance Mathis for football and Paul Smith for football.
