by Zachary Pavlik assistant-news@dailylobo.com @ZachPavlik What are your opinions regarding transparency among UNM administration, student government and the student body, and do you believe that students have enough input regarding University affairs? “I don’t think University administration and student government do a great job of informing students. Some of the changes that happen in UNM, in my personal experience, I don’t hear about as much. The only time I hear about it is from students in my hall or if I want to read the paper.” – Shara Shinabery, freshman, nursing “It seems as if the only information for that type of legislative behavior comes from the Daily Lobo. I don’t feel very informed personally, but I don’t think it’s necessarily because administration and student government don’t do a good job, but more so because people don’t choose to inform themselves.”– Pavel Babuska, first year graduate student, civil engineering “I think it would be much better if we had a much better idea of what’s going on. Even in the Daily Lobo, I think we get more of opinions than anything. I’ve been here for a long time and I really don’t feel very informed. The other day we were trying to find what type of companies the University invests in. It should be public information, but it is so hard to find.” – Megan Jiron, first year graduate student, Latin American studies “I think our voices aren’t really taken into account when it comes to decisions that the president really wants. They just kind of push it forward without our input. My personal opinion is that that is really wrong. I think that the president should let ASUNM have more input, therefore we would have more input because that’s our vessel, ASUNM.” – Carli Stringfellow, sophomore, international studies
