Graffiti reported for clean up

UNMPD has recorded quite a few instances of graffiti around campus. According to the reports, the graffiti included at least 16 depictions of a square and rectangular face drawn with black marker. The phrases “Don’t investigate your surroundings,” “Capitalism, your fucking life” and “SCAR” with a swastika symbol underneath it, were also found around campus. UNMPD believe different people were involved in the vandalism.

Truck stolen from Lomas

On Sept. 8, a student filed a report with UNMPD concerning a stolen vehicle. According to the report, the victim parked near the south exit of the Lomas parking structure at about 4 p.m. UNMPD was unable to locate the 1989 white Toyota pickup after searching other parking structures.

Student hit twice with car

On Sept. 13, a student filed a report with UNMPD in reference to aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and criminal damage. According to the report, the victim was driving into the secured parking structure on Campus NE at about 2:45 p.m. when he noticed a car behind him try to sneak into the parking structure without proper access. The victim entered the structure then stopped so the car behind him could not advance. The victim then exited his vehicle and confronted the other driver, saying that he was going to call the police.

The other driver then intentionally drove forward, hitting the victim’s car. The victim then yelled at the suspect and hit his driver’s side window with his hand. The suspect then backed up and drove forward, hitting the victim with the hood of his vehicle twice. The victim suffered minor injuries including a bruise on his right elbow, a bruise on his left shin and a swollen right hand.

The suspect was driving a 2008 black Nissan Sentra and is reported as a student at UNM.

Three vehicles reported burglarized on Sept. 17 and 18.

On Sept. 17, UNMPD was dispatched to R Lot in reference to an auto burglary. According to the report, the victim parked her car in R Lot on Monday, Sept. 15 at about 8 p.m. When she returned to her car on Wednesday at 2 p.m., she noticed items from her glove compartment were scattered throughout her car. She reported a necklace, two hoodies, three blankets, a parking permit and jumper cables were missing from her car. There were no signs of forced entry and the victim said she did not remember if she locked her car.

On Sept. 17, while investigating the auto burglary at R Lot, UNMPD was approached by a student who reported another auto burglary. This victim was missing T-shirts, a GPS, a TV and keys. Again, there were no signs of forced entry.

On Sept. 18, a report was filed at UNMPD in reference to an auto burglary. According to the report, the victim parked his pickup truck at UNM Hospital’s M Lot around 12:50 p.m. At approximately 4 p.m., the victim returned to his vehicle and found that it had been entered by manipulating the doors locking mechanism. He reported his deck stereo was missing.
