Softball: UNM drops series to second place Spartans

It didn’t take San Jose State the full seven innings to take the series from New Mexico on Saturday night.

UNM was run-ruled in the sixth inning when the Spartans took a lead greater than eight in the bottom of the sixth inning. San Jose State walked away with a 9-0 victory in its final series of the year.

The Lobos dropped to 23-26 and 8-14 in MW play.

Redshirt junior Tess McPherson (4-3) was tabbed with her third loss on the year, allowing five runs on eight hits, a walk, and recorded a strikeout across four innings of work.

Things didn’t get much better for Colette Robert who went just 1.1 innings, giving up four quick runs in her short span of work.

Up next for the Lobos will be the season finale on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. MT.
