Tuesday on the Street: Stress level two weeks in

How is your stress level two weeks into Fall semester and what do you do to de-stress?

Ben Stewart, senior, mechanical engineering

"This is my fourth year around. I'm a senior actually, so stress level, compared to what it's been in the past, is a lot lower. I kind of have a handle on it, but I could see how freshmen would probably have a pretty tough time, coming out of the first two weeks, just getting situated. Getting classes figured out, figuring out what's the shortest pathway between classes, that always took me forever. Now I know this place like the back of my hand, so it's not too bad."

Jose Monclova, junior, chemical engineering

"Not too stressed right now, but usually when I am, it's when tests come up and when I get lots of homework. Especially when I don't understand what the professors are talking about. Sometimes they can go a little too fast in the lecture. It can be stressful, like doing the homework. Just hang out once in a while, step back from actually doing homework. If you've been doing it all day then just take the afternoon off. Go get something to eat, hang out with friends -- I find that that helps a lot."

Lindsey Lucas, freshman, undecided

"For me right now my stress level is moderate, it's not too high. I usually just try to get some sleep."

Josie Lewis, national studies, sophomore

"My stress plateaued, luckily. I was really stressed out about buying textbooks. There was a lot of different confusion I had about what I was supposed to buy and what I didn't actually end up needing. I like to exercise to de-stress.
