Battery on a healthcare worker at the UNM Psychiatric Center
On the morning of Sept. 29, a UNMPD officer was dispatched to the UNM Psychiatric Center in response to an alleged incident of battery, according to a UNMPD report.
When the officer arrived, the victim — a resident staff member — said she was interviewing a patient in the dining area when the patient abruptly lunged across the table and punched her above the right eye, according to the report.
The report states that the officer noticed redness on her forehead in the indicated area. The nurses at the nurse’s station — which was roughly four feet away from the victim at the time of the incident — said they did not witness the situation or anything suspicious before it occurred, but they noticed the commotion that followed.
The report will be sent to the District Attorney’s office for review, being that the victim wishes to press charges.
Stolen vehicle recovered at Lobo Village
On Sept. 30, officers were dispatched to Lobo Village in regards to an abandoned, stolen vehicle, according to a police report. Excessive windshield damage appeared to be caused from hitting something or someone against the vehicle, which officers proved to be stolen when they arrived.
According to the report, the green 1992 Honda was also filled with stolen property, used syringes, a water bottle, a shaving razor, used food wrappers and deodorant. UNMPD asked the victim to visit the scene. The victim identified the items in the vehicle that belonged to her, but said many of the items were not hers.
UNMPD took possession of the other stolen items, then transported them to the UNM Police Station. There, the stolen property was secured in the detective’s office for a follow-up investigation. The food wrappers, water bottle and toiletries were tagged as evidence.
There were no APD reports of outstanding hit and run vehicles matching the description, and Lobo Village surveillance footage did not contain potential evidence, according to the report.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who said she and her now ex-boyfriend were arguing in her dorm room because she did not like the way he had been treating her. She said he had been physical with her in the past.
When she began walking to a friend’s room to escape what she feared would be a violent outburst from him, he followed her. She walked faster and soon began to run, as he continued to chase her. When she prepared to knock on her friend’s door, the suspect jumped in front of her. He pushed her onto the hallway floor and attempted to drag her away.
The victim screamed, and the suspect released his grip on her, picking up the phone she dropped during the scuffle. The victim’s friend left his dorm room and entered the hallway, confronting the suspect. The victim entered his room, and the two males talked. The victim’s friend asked the suspect if he had hit the victim, but he only admitted to grabbing her.
The report states the suspect left after the victim’s friend retrieved the victim’s cell phone. The victim said in the report she did not require medical attention as she was not injured.
Battery at Casas Del Rio and stolen property at Cornell Parking Structure
On Oct. 4, an officer was sent to Casas Del Rio to meet with a female who claimed her ex-boyfriend stole her cell phone, according to a UNMPD report.
When the officer arrived, the victim said she had been in a relationship with the male subject when the two were arguing in the hallway of her dorm room on the morning of Sept. 9. When the female began to walk away during the incident, he shoved her, causing her to fall to the floor and injure her left knee.
The incident was not reported when it occurred, and the couple split up soon after. The female indicated that the male has slandered her reputation by writing posts on her Facebook page, stating she was dating another male.
According to the report, earlier that day the female was skateboarding in the Cornell Parking Structure when her ex-boyfriend took her cell phone from her back pocket and left the structure quickly. The female feared that her ex-boyfriend would use her phone to log into her Facebook account and post inappropriate statements, according to the report.
Another male said he feels that because he has become friends with the female, her ex-boyfriend has become jealous.
