Monday on the Street: What do you want to see in Smith Plaza?

What could improve Smith Plaza?

Ryuichi Nakayama, graduate student, art history

“I think we need some ramps to go from one level to the next, for when people use a bicycle or moped. I know there is a ramp, but it’s very windy and not useful.”

Oscar Huamani, senior, nutrition

“More seats and tables, because there is too much open space. I think it’s being wasted, because there is nothing there. If there was more furniture, there would be less people skating and more students sitting, eating or talking.”

Abraham Dominguez, senior, electrical engineering

“I think they should have more events here. I know that, right now, events like the career fair are carried out at the SUB. It would be better if we could use this space to carry out more events. It could be a great space for concerts if you had architecture similar to an amphitheater.”

Larena Gonzales, sophomore, education

”I feel like we should keep the space as is. A lot of different people, a lot of athletic people, go around there with skateboard and bikes. A lot of little kids go over there and play because it’s really open. I feel like it’s nice to just have an open space.”
