The Lobos' final game of the 2019-2020 season in March against the Utah State Aggies.

Mountain West releases women’s, men’s conference basketball schedules

On Oct. 9, the Mountain West released the basketball schedules for both the women’s and men’s programs in the 11-school conference.

Each team will have an 18-game conference schedule. The women’s regular season will begin on Dec. 31 and conclude on March 2, while the men’s regular season will start on Dec. 29 and conclude on March 6.

The women’s and men’s basketball schedules feature nine home and away games apiece and will have two bye weeks over the course of the season.

Each squad will start off their regular seasons on the road. The women’s team will play its home opener Jan. 6 against Colorado State, while the men’s team will play its home opener against Wyoming on Jan. 2.

Both teams will play almost every team in the conference twice, one away and one at home. The only omissions for the women’s team will be Nevada and Air Force, who they play only once this year. The Air Force game will be played at home on Feb. 3, and the game against Nevada will be played on the road on Feb. 17.

Meanwhile, the men’s team will only play Boise State and Fresno State once this season. The Boise State game will be played at home on Feb. 9, while the game against Fresno State will be played on the road on Jan. 12.

Both the women’s and men’s Mountain West championship basketball tournaments will be held in March. The women’s tournament will run from March 7-10, and the men’s will go from March 10-13. Both tournaments will be held at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

According to the conference, “Mountain West national television partners CBS Sports and Fox Sports will now initiate a selection procedure, which will include the shifting of several games from their current Saturday and Tuesday dates.”

Individual Mountain West institutions will release non-conference schedules over the coming weeks, according to the conference.
