Isotopes go head-to-head against Round Rock

This past week, the Isotopes went up against Round Rock in a back and forth series starting on Sept. 2 which finished with both teams trading wins and tying at three games a piece.

Jose Torres was the star of the first game of the series with two home runs, the first at the bottom of the third inning and a second home run at the bottom of the seventh inning. The Isotopes would win game one 8-6. The second game of the series was a slow one, with only three runs from Round Rock, which was enough to get them the win as the Isotopes got shut out. The first and second games set a similar pattern for the next four games of the series.

In the third game of the series, Keston Hiura hit a homer at the bottom of the second inning to keep the ball rolling. The Isotopes brought in three runners at the bottom of the third inning, but at the top of the fourth inning, Round Rock scored five runs. In the eighth inning, the Isotopes came back with three runs coming from Aaron Schunk, with a home run eventually sealing a 10-6 victory.

In game four, the Isotopes lost to Round Rock with a score of 9-6. During game five of the series the Isotopes were in the lead with a total of five runs, and Round Rock was not far behind but before Round Rock could comeback, rain started coming down. Fans started to search for cover and the umpires called a delay for 30 minutes. Fans and teams both wanted for either the game to be called, postponed to the next day, or be resumed. Unfortunately, fans were disappointed about the game being ended, but on the other side of the silver lining, the Isotopes were thrilled about winning the fifth game of the series.

The Isotopes’ win on Saturday meant that Sunday’s game would be a toss-up for the series. Both teams went the first two innings without scoring any runs, but at the top of the third, Round Rock scored three runs. The Isotopes came back with one run at the bottom of the fourth inning, but the Isotopes couldn't maintain success. At the top of the 6th inning the Round Rock scored four more runs. The last game of the series’ final score was 8-3 in favor of Round Rock.
