El Centro de la Raza celebrates graduation

Student Magarita Avitia said before attending UNM she worked as a housekeeper with her mother. "I woke up every morning at five with my mom," she said. "She pretty much helped me clean everything because it was hard work. I couldn't even hang in there."

Leaving N.M. for Sin City

Last summer, Ehren Natay was getting ready for another semester at UNM and working with his local band, Donnybrooke. Now, less than a year later, the student-turned-drummer is touring in the up-and-coming Forget McCarran, an indie-punk band from Las Vegas, Nev. Last July, the band was looking for a drummer, so Natay flew out to Las Vegas for a tryout.

Lobos last pick for finals

Maja Kovacek will get one last opportunity to play with her teammates before her career at UNM comes to an end. The senior All-American tennis player said she was surprised to find out the No. 46 Lobos were selected to play at the NCAA Championships, which begin May 12.

Company's policy may be confusing

Woody Farber, president of New Mexico Student Loans, said a flier in the Daily Lobo on April 28 could cause students financial harm. The flier was an advertisement for student loan consolidation through the company Nelnet.


UNM students registered for summer classes board the South Lot shuttle last July. UNM parking officials will close South, Zia and I parking lots in an effort to improve efficiency.

By closing three parking lots and one shuttle this summer, UNM parking officials are hoping the result will be a more efficient service for their customers.

Former coach remembered

Bill Weeks, one of the most successful football coaches in UNM history, passed away Tuesday night at an Albuquerque hospital. Funeral arrangements are pending.
