Editor,
This is a response to the several letters written on the pages of the Daily Lobo calling for a softer approach to the Iranian nuclear crisis.
The claim that a country founded on individual rights lies on an equivalent plane as one that suppresses individual rights is absurd - a typical response that abandons reason and logic. Most religionists and delusional subjectivists will claim that morals are in the eye of the beholder.
This sort of logic fails to understand that there are absolute morals - such as freedom of speech, especially to criticize - that exist within all of mankind.
I believe each of these individuals should restrain their emotional outbursts and learn what allows them to write such ignorance - free speech.
Raging religionists, especially those who espouse transborder fatwas, are enemies to those who recognize individual rights.

As the fatherland of Islamic totalitarianism, Iran should have been the main target in this war on terrorism. However, our goal should not be to spread freedom, nor build democracies in the Middle East. That is their prerogative - just as Americans did, they will have to embrace the values of individual rights. Our specific goal should rather be to instill fear in all of those who actively threaten us with their willingness to impose Sharia - Islamic law. Iran is the centerpiece to this threat, and religious government must be destroyed immediately.
Appeasement is constantly weakening our ability to self-defend. As a country that depends on individual rights, we should all advocate victory over the Islamic totalitarians and crush their ability to restrain our pillars to tolerance and freedom.
