UNM offers academic support for all students

Lucero-Emmons Daily Lobo The Center for Academic Program support is UNM's main tutorial service to help students succeed by providing academic assistance, one-on-one tutoring appointments and group labs. The program also offers English as a second language tutors, a library and help with study strategies.

The process is a way of improving the school, achieving department goals and to better reach out to UNM and its surrounding community.

Committee seeks input for Sept. 11 remembrance

by Stephanie Garc°a Daily Lobo ASUNM and other University organizations are remembering the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks by planning a campus-wide commemoration. ASUNM President Jennifer Onuska said that the events of Sept. 11 have not only had an impact on UNM, but also the entire country.

Freshman charged for firing BB gun

A UNM student was arrested on charges of aggravated assault Wednesday evening after admitting to UNM police he fired a BB into a Hokona Hall residence room. Brandon Bednarski, a first year student, was arrested by UNMPD and transported to Bernalillo County Detention Center.

Nuclear Watch files suit against Los Alamos Lab

Staff Report Nuclear Watch of New Mexico, an environmental watchdog group, filed a lawsuit in federal court last week seeking to block construction of a biohazard research facility at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. The suit alleges that an analysis of environmental, health and safety impact has not been properly conducted.

New visitors lot to add 400 new spaces

Next week work will begin on a six-story parking structure at the visitors lot between Popejoy Hall and Johnson Center. "We're always looking at ways of increasing short-term parking," said Josh Kavanagh, associate director of Parking and Transportation Services.

Cleanroom new UNM feature

The doors Wednesday to its cleanroom, a computer chip manufacturing facility, to media representatives, University personnel and guests. The presentation aimed to show off and help promote UNM's cleanroom, a multi-million dollar semiconductor facility, at the Manufacturing Training and Technology Center.

'02 freshman class size breaks records

This year's record-size freshman class, with more than 2,800 members, will be the largest one since the University began tracking the statistic in 1982, said Terry Babbitt, the Office of Recruitment director.
