Track and Field The men's and women's track and field teams had their best showings of the season this weekend in Flagstaff, Ariz. The two Lobo teams combined to bring home eight gold medals, 14 season bests and two school records. For the men, distance runner Matt Gonzales won the 800-meter and the 1,500-meter.

Staff Report The Lobo women's basketball team invaded Laramie, Wyo. and freshman Julie Briody had a career-high 20 points in UNM's 61-56 victory over the Cowgirls on Saturday. After falling behind by as many as nine points, the Lobos rallied and were able to match the Cowgirls, scoring back and forth in the first period, but UNM remained down by one at halftime, 34-33.

Staff Report UNM head football coach Rocky Long announced 27 student-athletes signed with the Lobo football team for the 2004 season, including four New Mexico high school players with outstanding statistics. But UNLV's 10-game winning streak came to a screeching halt Saturday night at The Pit as UNM upset the Rebels in the last seconds, handing them their first conference loss of the year. The Lobos just wanted to remind UNLV and the conference's leading scorer how it feels to lose.

After playing from behind for most of the second half, UNM managed to chip the Rebel's lead to just two points, at 66-64, with less than three minutes remaining.
