Daily Lobo: What aspect of fine arts are you concentrating on? Ben Schmitz: I'm not entirely sure yet, actually. I want to do something within the two-dimensional design realm. I am a photographer, but I'm doing painting and drawing - things I'm not good at - because I want to learn.

Column: Look past fallacies when voting

As an instructor for Philosophy 156: Reasoning and Critical Thinking, election seasons are both exciting teaching opportunities and depressing referendums on the basic rationale of the American public. I couldn't ask for better textbook examples of fallacies than those found in our political discourse.

The revolution may not be televised, but at least you can watch the third installment of the presidential debates Wednesday. "It's an important time, and the whole world is paying attention to what we do during this election, to kind of see if we are going along the same course that we have been, or we are going to try and start changing our course," said Leon Howard, a UNM law student who will host a debate watch party at the SUB Ballroom from 6 to 9 p.

UNM takes $50,000 from Daily Lobo's funds

The University has taken about $50,000 from the Daily Lobo's financial reserves and redistributed the money to programs running deficits. The $50,000 is part of a larger sum of money UNM deducted from several on-campus departments. However, the Lobo doesn't receive any money from UNM, and the funds taken were a surplus of ad revenue the Lobo accumulated over a period of years.

UNM beats Hornets despite weak finish

If Sacramento State was a speed bag, the UNM men's soccer team thoroughly worked them early on Sunday at the UNM Soccer Complex with two quick, decisive blows, leading 2-0 less than seven minutes into the game. But as any boxer will tell you, it's not about how you start; it's how you finish - something the Lobos have struggled to do.

Columbus Day disregards American Indians' struggles

Editor, It's that time of year again when America celebrates its origins with the recognition of Columbus Day, and if you grew up in the mainstream, you probably don't think twice about it. But if you grew up as an American Indian, you do, especially if you know your history.
