Kathy Moore of the UNM softball team and Ruben Douglas of the UNM men's basketball team have been chosen as the New Mexico Daily Lobo Athletes of the Week.
Moore, a senior pitcher, tossed two shutouts over the weekend, including a six-hit effort that guided UNM to a 4-0 victory over Morehead State University Friday. Moore allowed only five hits in UNM's 8-0 win over Eastern Illinois University Saturday. Against the University of Louisville Friday, Moore hit two home runs, including a three-run blast in the top of the seventh inning to secure UNM's 6-1 win. She finished with four RBIs.
Douglas tied a UNM career-high with 27 points in UNM's 83-73 first-round NIT victory over Baylor University Wednesday night. The sophomore guard hit eight of 14 shot attempts, including five-of-eight from 3-point land, and all six of his free throw attempts. He also hauled in five rebounds. Douglas scored UNM's first nine points against Baylor by hitting three straight 3-pointers.
