Campus Responses to This Week's Terrorist Attacks

In keeping with President Bush's proclamation of today as a day of prayer to honor this week's victims terrorist tasks, the UNM Alumni Memorial Chapel will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to provide University community members with a place for reflection and prayer.

l Prayer services for those affected by the terrorist attacks on the East Coast will be held today at 12:10 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Aquinas Newman Center Chapel, the Catholic Church on campus at 1815 Las Lomas Rd. N.E.

l The Public Relations Student Society of America is sponsoring a "Letters of Hope" campaign. Cards written by UNM community members will be will be sent to those affected by the recent terrorist attacks. The group will be at the Duck Pond today from noon until 4:30 p.m. collecting letters.

l Students have organized a candlelight vigil outside the UNM Bookstore tonight at 7 p.m. Student organizations, students, staff and faculty are invited and asked to bring candles.

l The Agora Crisis Center, which can be reached at 277-3013, is taking phone calls from those who need someone to talk to about any subject.

l The UNM Student Health Center's Counseling and Therapy Services program is open to students, faculty and staff and can be reached at 277-3136 or 277-5718.

l The UNM Art Education Department has open studio time for community member seeking an outlet to express their feelings following terrorist attacks. It runs Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Monday through Thursday from 2-5 p.m. in Rooms 207 and 208 of Masley Hall

l Americans For Exploring Alternatives to Revenge is sponsoring a candlelight vigil Sunday at the Duck Pond to demonstrate the American commitment to peaceful solutions to terrorism and mourn those affected by Tuesday's terrorist attacks. Participants are asked to bring candles or flashlights.
