My two letters on 500 years of U.S. atrocities to Native Americans were published in the Oct. 24 and Oct. 25 editions of the Daily Lobo. Each time my estimated figures for the number of native people on this continent at the time of first European contact were changed to a much lower figure. The figure should be one and a half to 50 million or more. These figures are derived from three different estimates in scholarly literature.
