Where do you find a no-legged dog?
Right where you left him.
I think I read somewhere that there's an unwritten law in the music world that says, super bands never work, but if you have no idea who the supermen who make up the super group are, then I guess that rule goes right out the window.
Pioneers of a genre called "Americana" Gene Eugene from Adam Again, Terry Taylor from Daniel Amos, Derri Daugherty from The Choir and Mike Roe from 77's, make up a group known as The Lost Dogs.
The Lost Dogs were originally slatted as a one-time project. After their first CD release, the band took on a life of its own and has since released five albums in the past 10 years.
In March 2000, group member Gene Eugene died. Nevertheless, the group feels that he would have wanted them to carry on performing and they have, referring to themselves as the "three-legged dogs."

Their latest CD, Real Men Cry is a study in what the genre "Americana" is all about. A heap of gospel, a chunk of country and a generous 24oz. ladle full of folk, stirred well, baked on high and served up warm.
To try and describe this CD in any conventional sense for me would be nothing more than randomly picking references to Tom Petty, Arlo Guthrie, The Counting Crows and Hank Williams Sr. It would more aptly be described as a diverse album of traditional American music - blues, folk, country, rock - with a distinctly contemporary feel.
While not for everyone, Real Men Cry has received acclaim from critics and fans alike. It is defiantly the work of three very talented musicians.
If you are into heavy metal, rap, pop or punk this might not be the CD for you. But if you are a fan of folk, blues and country this album may be exactly what you are looking for. With haunting tracks like "The Mark of Cain" and distinctly country numbers like "Three Legged Dog" and "Dust on the Bible," Real Men Cry has a lot to offer.
I can guarantee that there is someone out there who will love this band.
The Lost Dogs will be in Albuquerque this Saturday Sept. 21 at Joshua's Vineyard 7737 Zuni SE. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $10 for and $5 for children. For more information visit http://internet.cybermesa.com/~coopster/albqdogs.html.
