LETTER: Iraq war not logical

Editor,

President Bush has no idea what he is getting us into with his paranoiac fixation on Saddam Hussein. The entire Arab world isn't going to sit back and watch as we destroy Iraq. Visualize this scenario:

Iraq launches missiles at Israel, who responds in kind. Iran, which now has two American puppet regimes on its western border, Afghanistan and Pakistan, is not going to welcome an American puppet regime in Iraq on its eastern border. It will jump in with its own missiles aimed at Israel. Syria, who has Israel on one border will not want America on its western border, will probably send Hezbollah into northern Israel, Tel Aviv, Baghdad, Damascus and Tehran, with all of them probably being destroyed.

Jordan will collapse from within. Iran will attack the small gulf countries that are aiding the United States. Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and the UAR will be destroyed as will the Saudi Arabian oil fields. Egypt will succumb to Islamic radicals and no moderate Islamic country will survive. Meanwhile, as we are fighting door to door in what is left of Baghdad, the economy and productivity of the US will come to a halt as no more oil will be reaching us from the Middle East. Osama bin Laden, who has been waiting for Bush to act, will release his sleeper cells in the United States and start attacking our malls, schools and other public places.

If this doesn't qualify as World War III, it certainly makes the case that Armageddon is upon us if you believe in biblical mythology.

All of this will happen so fast, President Bush will have no time to react and prevent it. Once you open the bottle and let the genie out, there is no going back.

Can President Bush or anyone else guarantee this scenario won't take place? Of course they can't. As a matter of fact, it seems like the most likely series of events if we attack Iraq unilaterally.

Of course we will survive all of this, but President Bush will go down in history as the man who almost destroyed America because he couldn't control his passion for war.

I hope and pray congress does something to prevent this president from destroying our country, but I doubt that they will. This administration is a far greater threat to world peace than Saddam Hussein could ever hope to be.
